According to life coach
Tony Robbins, there are
six core human needs that every human being desires:
certainty,
variety,
significance,
love & connection,
growth,
& contribution.
We often seek comfort and certainty when things are tough.
Yet, when things are stable, we start to seek new things... like change, excitement & variety. This is why it's important to make time for varietyand why variety is key to enriching our connections and deepening our relationships.
It allows us to encourage the people we love, to step outside our comfort zones, and learn and experience new things - together.
So here's a little reminder to make time for variety.
---
It's common to get stuck in a daily routine that allows our relationships to run on autopilot. In the process, we forget to make time for surprises and challenges that bring a boost of excitement to our week. When we don't get enough variety in our relationships and our lives, life can often become predictable and unexciting.
So today we'll discuss the benefits of variety and simple ways we can make time for it in our busy lives.
Simple ways to add variety into your day:
--
1) Surprise someone with a small thoughtful gift
Get tickets to an upcoming concert in town or a wine tasting tour.
2) Cook your partner’s favourite meal or treat
Cook your partner's favourite meal or bake their favourite treat. You can even go out for dinner and enjoy a night out if this is something you don't do very often.
3) Plan a surprise weekend getaway.
It can be a long road trip or just a short trip an hour away. Getting out of your normal atmosphere and surrounded by something new and different is a healthy way to add more variety to your life.

4) Send loving, funny or romantic text message you wouldn't normally send.

5) Schedule a date night
In long-term relationships, date-night often gets traded for ordering in and sitting on the coach. As a result, relationships can start getting a bit dull and unexciting. Schedule a date night ever so often so you can spend quality time together, whether it be as a family or as a couple.
6) Try something new together
Take a dance class, a cooking class, run a marathon together, or signup for a team league together. Doing something challenging and exciting on a weekly basis is a great way to add more variety to your life and can help you grow together.
7) Help manifest wishes & dreams
It's likely that at some point we discuss our hope and dreams with the people we love. However, over time, those sorts of conversations can become more uncommon. Set some time aside to continue to discuss your wishes and dreams with the ones you love and set a plan to support one another in making those dreams a reality. Maybe you've always dreamed of taking a trip to Hawaii together, start looking at vacation ideas and plan out ways to make it achievable or affordable in the future. Maybe your child has a dream of being a baseball player, why not sign them up for little league or take them to a baseball game. Or why not take your best friend to a concert when her favourite band comes to town?
-
Healthy relationships should nurture each other's passions in life. It's key to making us feel happy and fulfilled.
8) Take a Long Hike Together
Get out into nature, enjoy the stillness and serenity, it's a great way to release day-to-day stress. If it's summer, you could also rent a canoe or kayak, or watch the stars or the sunset in a new and relaxing atmosphere. If it's winter take a walk in the woods, appreciate the snowy branches and take in the beauty of winter.

We all have a need for balance in our lives, it's a
core human need that resides in us all. So make time for variety and get out of your daily routine this week! These types of surprises will keep the excitement alive and prevent you from getting stuck in a relationship rut.
It's a great way to keep your relationships exciting and fun.
