Today I want to talk briefly about new year resolutions because as you may have heard before, most people break their resolutions by Jan 15th. And as we are closely approaching this date, I thought today would be the perfect day to receive some love and inspiration (and a brilliant new idea) that will help you to not give-up on your new year resolutions.
Whether you have been struggling with your resolutions or whether you are right on track. I want to share with you something I’ve discovered that I think everyone can really benefit from at this time of year.
This idea is probably new to you. And it's something I only started doing last year. And I truly beleive that this one simple thing you can do TODAY can be the inspiration that you need to keep you on track (or get you back on track) with your new year resolution and long-term goals.
Firstly, I just want to say that progress isn't linear. There are ups and there are downs. So even if you haven't been perfect with your resolutions this year, don't be so hard on yourself. Relax, take a few deep breaths. Because even with a solid plan, the reality is that we are not going to be perfect, we're human!
We might break our resolution once or twice, we might find ourselves slowly falling off track, or in some cases, totally falling of track. This doesn't mean that you've failed, it means that you're human - you make mistakes. What's important is that we learn from those mistakes and quickly as possible we get ourselves back on track.
There may be bumps along the way to our goals this year but as long as the long-term trajectory is moving upward, the small hicups along the way won't matter so much.
And remember that every day is a fresh start.
So you might be wondering, what is this special thing I can do right now that will help get my resolution goals back on track?
Well, here it is...
Write a future letter to yourself. In that future letter, write down what your ideal life will look like a year from now. If Today is Jan 14, 2018, pretend that is Jan 14th 2019 (a year from today). And take some time out of your day to sit down and think about what you REALLY WANT to happen for you by this date next year. When you write this letter, share what you’ve accomplished throughout the year. What dreams have you accomplished? What type of relationships do you have?
Also, make sure to include things like...
What will your physical health be like?
What will your mental health be like?
What will your spiritual life be like?
How will you feel?
How much more confidence will you have?
What limiting beliefs will you have overcome and concurred?
What will you have accomplished both personally and professionally?
And What special things will you have experienced this year?
WRITE IT ALL DOWN!
Now, a couple of rules, You need to write this future letter as if you already achieved all these things. And it’s important to write it in present-tense.
Pretend you are writing this letter to someone close to you, who cares about you and would want to celebrate your achievements with you (like your mom or hubby).
It's a good idea to turn off your phone, your email, it’s probably a good idea to turn off your wifi connection too so you can really get in the zone. Trust me, everything will still be there 20 minutes from now. So turn off all distractions and get inside your happy place :)
Don’t underestimate this process. Everything you create this year can be created through the law of attraction. And this is a great method to start attracting what you really want in your life this year, and to get excited for it!
Once you complete this, you’ll notice how good It feels to have crystal clarity on your goals and vision.
You are on an incredible journey, and there is so much to look forward to…. and aspire too ….and get excited about. And when we take time to focus on that, and write it all down, we are instantly putting that message out in the universe that this is what we want to happen this year.
So have fun with this, keep this letter somewhere safe that way you can go back and read it again whenever you want. In fact, I suggest you go back and read it to yourself once every day for several days. Commit to doing this for at least a week. It will help imprint your vision deep in your subconscious mind and help you to manifest your desires while getting clear on what you want.
You can then go back and read it again whenever you need a boost of encouragement or need a pick-me-up, because we all do sometimes... especially me!
So, what are you waiting for?
Go and write out your dream life - right NOW.
It's a great way to give yourself a boost of motivation this new year.
I know YOU are destined for extraordinary things, and beautiful things WILL come your way if you visualize them happening to you. Your future letter is part of that visualization.
So get started, and have FUN with this.
You can do it!
So get started.
Right freaking now!
